Silence_Castor - ‘98SE’ Out Now!

Silence_Castor's new album “98SE” is now out through Petite Victory Collective.

“98SE” is the story of an alternate 90’s timeline in which technology ramps up even faster than in reality. By the early 90’s, scientists and programmers had unlocked the potential of digitizing thoughts, emotions, and memories. Gadgets that weren’t realistically available until the 2000‘s (VR helmets, touchscreen phones, etc) have already started hitting the market and it’s a time of frantic curiosity. With the full digitization of the brain on the horizon, a brand new operating system is released to the public: 98SE.

This groundbreaking new OS brings the first pieces of brain digitization to the common user, allowing navigation and playback of memories, emotional calibration, and many other therapeutic features. 98SE was also the first OS to offer plug and play options with VR headsets and other interfaces to fully immerse the user in their experience. The creators of the OS claimed it to be the next stage in human evolution and the first step toward getting a better grip on our reality.

Unfortunately, even with a bulletproof PR campaign and the whole world trying to get their hands on a fresh copy of 98SE, reactions quickly went South and users started reporting a plethora of mental and cognitive issues. The problem wound up being that people just simply didn’t want to deal with reality when given a door into their past. People would find a good memory and then just stay in it for hours, in some cases, not logging off of their computer until they literally needed medical attention.

Things only got worse from there and before policy makers could get 98SE removed from shelves, the damage had already been done. Cheap knockoffs, cracked copies, and hacks ran rampant across the globe and resulted in a complete societal collapse.

On a cold day in November in the year 2000, the last of the dirty bombs went off, marking the end of civilization as we know it.

'98SE' features collaborations with Atlas Castle, Dontmesswithjuan, Terminal Floor and Ashen Maw.
