"Out Of The Woodwork" | Labyrinth, PerFourMer, Digitakt 2, Empress Effects
Third time's the charm! This is the third iteration of this jam and it is completely different from the first two, and I'm glad I kept reworking it because now this is one of my favorite songs to date, and as my first "real" Hexwave track with the Labyrinth I wanted to make sure I was happy with it. Sounds good on headphones!
This all started because my one friend sent me a random voice clip he took of our other friend (who happens to be the fellow at 9.9 Woodshop that made my stand!) saying something like "I fucking love woodworking" and he told me "maybe you can make a song out of it or something". Honestly I didn't think I could do much because it was kinda a quiet muffled clip, but after throwing it in and running it through the ringer until its basically unrecognizable it worked quite well, so I went from there.
And then even better, my friend (the wood one (well, he's not MADE of wood)) sent me a recording of his bandsaw, which sounds awesome, and I used in two places here. It'll make a great oscillator too in the future I think.
Anyway. Takeaways: Sometimes it is a good idea to take notes and take another crack at something. And the Labyrinth (and this setup as a whole) is super fun.
